Frequently asked questions

The things people ask us most about roofing, stonework and how we work.

What areas do you cover?

We work across London and Surrey. Send us your postcode and you will get a straight yes or no rather than a maybe.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

How quickly can you come out?

It depends what else we have on that week. Call or message and you will get an honest answer about when we can get to you, rather than a date we cannot keep.

Do you work on older and period properties?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. Older solid wall buildings usually need lime rather than cement, and stone needs handling differently to brick. Our lime work and stonework pages go into how we approach both.

Will I need scaffolding?

Anything above single storey, or any job lasting more than a short visit, normally does. It is safer and the finish is better. Scaffolding is priced into the quote so there is no surprise part way through.

Do you take the old material away?

Yes. Stripping out and disposal is part of the job rather than an extra line at the end.

Can you work in bad weather?

Some work can be made safe temporarily in the wet, but a proper repair needs a dry roof, and fresh mortar needs the right conditions to cure. We will tell you honestly on the day which one you are getting.

Do you do both roofing and stonework, or do you subcontract the stone?

Both, in house. That is the reason stonework is in the name. Chimney stacks, copes, skews and stone elevations are done by the same people who do the roof.

How do I get a quote?

Call or message 07748 146181, use the office line on 020 3355 9112, or send a photograph of the problem through the form and you will get a straight answer on what it needs.

Still not sure?

Ask us directly. No obligation and no pressure.
