Chertsey old town has period and Victorian buildings, some listed, with natural slate and tall stacks in soft brick. Those stacks are usually the job: exposed on all sides, often previously repointed in hard cement that has cracked away and taken the brick face with it, and flashed with mastic where lead should be. Putting that right properly means raking out to depth, pointing in a mortar that suits the brick, and dressing new lead in. Out towards Ottershaw, Lyne and Addlestone the housing is largely post-war on concrete tile, where the issues are porous tiles, moss on shallow pitches and tired felt flat roofs on extensions. Chertsey is a straight run down the M25 for us, so it is comfortably within range.
