Lower Sunbury by the river has the oldest and most interesting property in the area, some of it eighteenth and nineteenth century with natural slate, clay tile and substantial stacks, and much of it under mature trees. That tree cover is the defining local problem: gutters fill, valleys block, and north-facing slopes stay damp long enough for moss to break the surface of the tile down. Inland the stock becomes conventional inter-war and post-war tiled housing with the usual ridge and hip work. River-facing properties nearly all have had something added to look at the water, and those extensions tend to have flat roofs of varying vintage and quality, which is a steady part of what we do here.
