Denham is next door to us and has some of the oldest property we work on: timber-framed and brick cottages in the old village, larger detached houses in Denham Green. Peg tiles, natural slate, lime mortar and substantial chimney stacks.
Old Denham village is a conservation area and the roofs there are the sort you cannot rush. Handmade clay peg tiles, natural slate, and stacks in soft brick where somebody has previously repointed in hard cement and the brick faces are now spalling around it. That is lime work, and it is a good part of why stonework is in our name. Denham Green and Tatling End are a different job again, mostly substantial inter-war and post-war detached houses with big hipped roofs, deep valleys and a lot of leadwork to go wrong. New Denham towards the Uxbridge side is more ordinary 1930s semi stock. Being a mile up the road, we can usually get over the same week.
