Windsor has a large amount of listed and conservation-area property, so a lot of the work is natural slate, clay tile and lime mortar done to a standard that will pass. Dedworth and the outer estates are more conventional tiled housing.
Central Windsor and Eton are dense with listed and conservation-area buildings, and roofing there is as much about doing it correctly as doing it at all. Natural slate, handmade tile, lead that has to be dressed on the roof rather than folded in a workshop, and pointing in lime because the brick and stone underneath is soft. Getting hard cement onto those buildings is what causes half the damage we are later asked to fix. Old Windsor and Datchet have a good deal of Victorian and Edwardian property with tall stacks and parapet detailing. Dedworth and Clewer are mostly inter-war and post-war semis on concrete tile, where the jobs are more routine. Consent is the owner's responsibility and we will say plainly if you need it.
